OTT Winter Music Showcase

The Winter Showcase on 7th December at The Rainbow was a testament to the hard work of Remii Blacks and Ben Jackson of Only Top Tier Collective (OTT), delivering ‘12 acts, 4 genres’ ranging from rap, folk pop/indie and neo soul to punk new wave. The Rainbow’s Cellar’s urban vibe and stand out lighting rig was perfect. As an event showcasing, organised and engineered by BIMM talent, it was great to see so many students show their support.

Toby Marriott and Kitty Bella performed a set of slow-paced ballads including their song ‘Paranoid’ and Kitty’s ‘love songs’ with an authentic and vulnerable quality. Despite the daunting prospect of a debut performance featuring unreleased originals, The Chinese Quarter had great stage presence and hooked the crowd. Vespa upheld the high standard of talent, followed by Apollo .I.D who brought a chilled set, providing much needed recovery time before Magnatas Court’s well received high energy, punk-goth performance. The scheduled acts closed with a set from Remii Blacks which included an impromptu acapella performance with Xavie and Pretty Drilla.

OTT are an organisational and hosting force to be reckoned with, scheduling DJ sets from DJQ, Sach, and Mamba.exe between segments to keep the energy consistently high. Remii Blacks empowered and promoted all acts, showing professionalism and charisma throughout. The skills of OTT will deliver future nights that will be a must-see.
